WHAT DO I NEED TO PACK, AND HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING?

The largest portion of your Heli-Ski trip cost is the helicopter use. Because, in most areas, we have to fly your luggage into the lodge, we request that you pack only those items that are essential to your having a comfortable trip. There is no need to bring an extensive Wardrobe; the lodges are very casual. It would be appreciated by CMH and your fellow travellers if you limit yourself to one carry-on bag and one suitcase weighing no more than 18 kilos (40 lbs.). Air Canada has recently announced a decrease in their baggage weight allowance from 70 lbs to 50 lbs - please check directly with Air Canada or your Travel Consultant for more information.

There are laundry facilities available for your use at each area. Please be sure to bring a tracksuit or exercise clothing to wear during the morning Stretching sessions. We strongly recommend that you leave your skis and poles at home and use our specially designed equipment, which is provided to you at no extra cost. If possible, carry your ski boots as hand luggage.

If you are planning your Heli-Ski trip in conjunction with other travel that requires you to pack more than one suitcase, there is long-term storage at the Delta Calgary Airport Hotel available to our guests.

Please note that the lodges use 110-volt (not 220 volt) electrical outlets.

TELL ME ABOUT GRATUITIES.

Gratuities are not included in our prices, nor are they expected. If you feel that the staff service throughout your stay deserves gratuity please feel free to include one at the end of your ski trip. Gratuities are divided among all the staff at the lodge.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS.

A valid passport is necessary for entry into Canada. This also applies to US citizens, who should note that as of December 31, 2006, all US citizens travelling to Canada by air will require a passport to enter or re-enter both Canada and the United States.

DO YOU ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS?

CMH accepts American Express, MasterCard and Visa for all deposits, final payments and for all payments in the lodges.

IS THERE AN EARLY PAYMENT DISCOUNT?

Yes. This applies to those who prepay in full for their week of Heli-Skiing. Please download our Early Payment Discount form (pdf) for information on when the funds must be received by CMH Reservations for your trip date. Don't forget to allow two weeks for mailing.

CAN I USE MY OWN PERSONAL VHF HAND-HELD RADIO?

Yes, guests are welcome to bring their personal radios with them to monitor the operational frequency. However, the use of this frequency will be restricted to emergency use only. You must have an alternate frequency programmed into your radio to "chat" with other guests.

DOES CMH OFFER ANY CREDIT FOR ORGANIZING A GROUP OR INTRODUCING A NEW SKIER?

Yes, but they are not discounts on the cost of the week. If you bring a new skier or a group to CMH, we feel your good efforts deserve recognition:

  • New Guest Credits: If you have previously skied or hiked with CMH and introduce a first time Heli-Skier or Heli-Hiker to our programs, you qualify for a New Guest Credit. This program requires that you notify us of who this person is before the trip is paid for. You must complete the New Guest Credit Form to qualify. These credits cannot be applied without this form.
  • Group Organizers: If you organize a group of 10 or more skiers, you qualify for a commission if the trip is booked on certain weeks where this program is available and under certain conditions. Information and applicable weeks are available on our Group Organizers Policy, or you may contact our reservations office and request that the Group Organizers Policy be mailed to you. Group organizer discounts also apply to all Heli-Hiking trips throughout the summer.
